Brow Lift Questions

What is a brow lift?

A browlift, or forehead lift, is a cosmetic surgery procedure used to mask the visible signs of aging that develop along the forehead or on the nose’s upper bridge. This facial rejuvenation procedure is also employed to reposition a low or sagging brow that can cause “hooding” of the eyes.

What is the difference between a traditional brow lift and an endoscopic brow lift?

Traditional brow lifts involve an incision from the hairline to the ear. This is a far more invasive procedure that requires additional recovery time and may leave visible scars.

During an endoscopic brow lift, numerous small incisions are made around the scalp. From these incisions, a tiny camera is inserted, which serves as visual guidance to aid in tissue repositioning. These smaller incisions result in less recovery time and greater patient satisfaction, since there is minimal visible scarring.

Am I a candidate for a brow lift?

While the average age range of patients is between 40 and 70, anyone suffering from the development of aging signs in the forehead region is a candidate for an endoscopic brow lift.

What does recovery entail?

Recovery duration and discomfort following an endoscopic brow lift is minimal. Following the procedure, you will have a bandage wrapped around your head to protect the incision as stitches dissolve. During the next few days, you may experience some discomfort, including:

  • Numbness and itching around the incision
  • Swelling and bruising

Should I pursue having eyelid surgery or a brow lift?

Each individual case is unique. The appropriate cosmetic surgery procedure to meet your aesthetic goals can only be determined through a consultation with Dr. Daria Hamrah.

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is typically suggested when excess skin causes the upper eyelids to sag. A brow lift is used to lift natural drooping of the eyebrows or mask wrinkles in the eyelid region.

If you are interested in a brow lift and live in the Washington, D.C. or northern Virginia area, please contact the facial rejuvenation office of NOVA SurgiCare today to schedule your personal consultation with Dr. Hamrah.
